Review of Unibet
Unibet is a Scandinavian bookmaker, holding a very strong appeal especially in this region. Meanwhile, since obtaining a UK license in 2014, Unibet have broadened their appeal to British clients as well.
Generally, you will find a great variety to choose from - a vast offering of sports as well as leagues/tournaments. And lots of markets to suit your needs on a website featuring good usability and lots of live streaming of football, tennis, horse racing etc.
At Unibet football is the main sport with coverage of a wide range of countries, including lots of secondary leagues. Besides the most common countries, coverage also spreads to usual low profile leagues such as Iceland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Aside from major sports like football, tennis, horse racing, golf etc., you will also find a lot of minor sports, including something as different as the Finnish pesäpallo(!). Unibet distinguishes themselves by a great variety of winter sports and especially road cycling, which are primarily the areas where they differentiate themselves from the rest.
Most of the time Unibet offer a great number of betting options for every match, notably on major football leagues, where they are at the forefront in terms of number of markets offered. Every now and then a high profile football match will contain 300+ different markets.
On football you will find regular match odds, handicaps (also asian), ht/ft, over/under, correct score etc., while in the major leagues typically goalscorer, cards and a lot of match and player specials are offered.
Unibet is among the top dogs in the market measured on odds (theoretical payout). The payout is distributed fairly on all markets, as opposed to other bookmakers where you often find high payout (and thus high odds) on a few, selected leagues/sports along with low payout on secondary leagues/sports.
Meanwhile, in none of the leagues we monitor payout on, is Unibet standing out at the very top, but conversely, there are no leagues where they are at the very bottom, compared to the entire market. It should be mentioned, though, that random sampling in niche sports/leagues reveal a rather low payout at Unibet.
Unibet usually publish their odds very early, though you can rarely bet on events outside current round of any given tournament.
In-play betting at Unibet covers of a multitude of sports. Football is - not surprisingly - the most prevalent, but also markets within tennis, horse racing, handball, volleyball and basketball are scheduled almost on a daily basis. At each event is offered you will as a minimum find winners markets and at least a couple of special markets.
Bets on live betting markets can be placed in combination with pre-match markets, which is a great feature for gamblers enjoying multiples.
A recent feature in the live betting is "cash in". Through this you can "sell" a live bet back if you for some reason have lost faith or perhaps are happy with settling early for a lower payout. Note however that when cashing in, the payment is significantly reduced compared to if you let it run until the end.
In the Unibet live betting section you can stream a variety of sports events. The list of streamed events is growing and Unibet clearly belongs among the best in the market on this. Note, however, that to be able to access live streaming, you must have a positive balance on your betting account, or placed a bet within the last 24 hours.
The current Unibet website features a very user friendly navigation. You are able to get a complete overview of all markets and offers, and the navigation works well.
The display of events and odds are visually very good, and you can also choose to view the odds for market type across all leagues. This is quite useful if you want to see all odds on goalscorers or over/under for a multitude of leagues all at once.
Overall, the website contains everything you need. Good navigation, simple and quick overview, ease of use and various extra features, such as statistics for individual matches/events.
For mobile usage, Unibet has developed both a browser-based platform and an app. Whichever you use, you can access the full range of markets, both pre-match and live betting. Streaming of live events can also be made mobile.
The platform is super easy to navigate and is logically structured. There is a slight tendency to page freeze now and then, which reduces our general impression and influence our overall rating a bit downwards.
New clients can sign up through the mobile platform, and you can make both deposits and withdrawals, however payment options are a bit limited compared to the desktop version: deposits can be made by credit card, online banking and Neteller, while withdrawals are limited to credit cards. Skrill is very much missed as an option.
Clients can access full account details including bet history, while you can also set up personal limits or completely exclude yourself through the mobile/app.
We are ready to add half a star to our rating when Unibet establish a mobile search function, which could prove very useful as opposed to comb manually through the huge variety of bets and markets.
When depositing or withdrawing on your Unibet account, you find a great variety of payment options, most of them free of charge, which is a big plus. One drawback, though, is that for your first deposit Skrill and NETELLER will not be available.
Most transfers, including bank wire, are processed rapidly - typically within the same day.
Unibet can be contacted in a variety of languages, with English the primary. Aside from email contact through a web form, it is also possible to get in touch through phone (toll free number).
The general response time when contacting Unibet support is short, and the response quality is usually high. Generally Unibet maintains a high level of support, with speedy and fulfilling responses most of the time.
If your need is urgent, Unibet also provides a live chat support, available mostly during daytime hours.
Personal limits may occur. However, it is relatively rare. Generally, Unibet accept very decent bet amounts, and should you happen to exceed the general market limits, you can submit your bet to approval by a trader. In most cases, additional amounts are accepted.
Being a solid bookmaker with great odds, excellent support and efficient platforms on both the web and mobile operation, we strongly recommend Unibet as a part of every betting portfolio.
Although Unibet stands out as market leaders in primary sports mostly by exception than rule, their offerings and odds are definitely approved, and at the high end of the vast majority of the most popular sports and tournaments.
Should you have a special interest in betting on minor sports and tournaments, not covered by any bookmaker, then Unibet is surely a must.Sign up at Unibet
